Beginners Guide to Medicare for DMEPOS Suppliers Webinars: Registration Now Available
 
The Jurisdiction B Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor (DME MAC) Provider Outreach and Education (POE) Department will be hosting a series of three webinars that are geared towards new staff or those individuals wishing to refresh their basic DMEPOS knowledge. These “Beginners Guide to Medicare” Webinars will include a presentation and the opportunity for participants to ask questions.
 
Session 1 – Beginners Guide to Medicare for DMEPOS Suppliers will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time (ET).  The objective of session 1 is to provide suppliers with an overview of the Medicare program and its four separate and distinct parts. We will outline who is eligible to receive Medicare benefits and how they enroll in the Medicare program. Furthermore, we will provide information on the necessary steps a supplier must take to obtain and maintain Medicare billing privileges.

Session 2 – Beginners Guide to Medicare for DMEPOS Suppliers will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time (ET).
In the second session, we will discuss the importance of beneficiary screening during the intake process and how vital this step is to making sure you receive proper payment from Medicare. Documentation requirements will also be discussed, which is a key element in DME claim submission and payment. Complying with documentation requirements before dispensing equipment or submitting a claim is essential.

Session 3 – Beginners Guide to Medicare for DMEPOS Suppliers will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time (ET).
The objective of the final session is to provide suppliers with information to effectively complete the billing process for Medicare claim submission. We will also discuss what steps to take after a claim is billed, how to read Medicare Remit Notices, file an appeal, and how to have errors corrected through the Reopenings process.
