Hi! I'm sure this question has been asked a billion times, but I'm trying to get an answer that my provider will accept. I know that it is illegal under Federal guidelines NOT to collect copays, coinsurance and deductibles for Medicare, Medicaid and Workers' Comp. How about for insurance companies, specifically in the State of NJ? My provider refuses to collect them and refuses to ask his patients for proof of financial hardship. He wants me to find him the citation or law number that proves not collecting them (or at least making an attempt) is illegal. The only thing I can find for NJ is a law chatboard that says that it is NOT illegal in NJ. Does anyone know if this is correct? Please respond either on the forum or to my e-mail: email@example.com. Thanks - and Happy New Year!
