Just curious, if we make every effort to collect a deductible and the patient does not inform us of or qualify as a hardship case, then is the patient in breech of contract with their insurance company? We have offered payment plans, attempted contact and collections for nearly 2 years then finally resorted to filing a suit in small claims court. The patient's time limit to respond to our summons has passed so we are waiting to receive their forwarded response from the court as well as a court date. Is this an issue that stays between our office and the patient, or can I get the insurance company involved (or at least threaten to do so)?
Thanks,
Cathy
