Let me tell you a little fairy tale.  Many years ago, in 1998,  we received a fax, from a company called XXXXXXX Corporation about changes to Medicare and how important it was to attend.  It made you believe that you will not get your claims paid by Medicare if you didnt attend.  I did.  Most of the seminar was a sales pitch about their books, a gold book and tapes.  I was also told to take a color sticker and put it on my claim form with the words, pay this claim in 30 days or a complaint would be made  with the Insurance Commissioner.  The several attempts to sell their book package resulted in my boss buying them.  We were warned if we opened the plastic cover, we wouldnt get a refund.  We could see why.  The books were blurred copies of a copy of a copy of a copy. 

I did the sticker thing,  It didnt work.  My complaints to the Insurance Commissioner were laughed at.  They didnt handle Medicare claims issues and that is when I learned about ERISA.  An ERISA benefit payment issue is not within their jurisdiction.  Gee, why wasnt I told about this at the seminar.  Again, the seminar was, to me, nothing but a high pressure sales pitch for these cheaply made documents. Again, a copy of a copy of a coipy of a copy ad infinitum.  The funny thing is that the certificate I received says the seminar is approved by the Florida Board of nursing, yet it also says DO NOT SEND THIS CERTIFICATE TO THE FLORIDA BOARD OF NURSING.  Now, if this board approved the seminar, why shouldnt we send the certificate to them?  Ive never had a problem with medicare and my claims.  They usually pay in 14 days.  if they dont, something is wrong with the claim and that is our responsibility to fix. Problems such as missing or wrong policy numbers, missing NPI numbers, blocks 31, 32, and 33 not filled in correctly.  Basically data entry errors.

I read, via the internet that XXXXX Seminar was informed by Medicare to stop using the Medicare name.  The FTC investigated them, fined them and ordered them to stop using the name of Medicare.   XXXXX Seminar was located in La Mesa, CA.   Now, am I saying that XXXXX Seminar is now NPCC?  Nope!  Am I saying anything derrogatory or bad about NPCC?  Nope.  You can do your homework.  You can also check yourself on any complaints made about NPCC and form your own opinion.  AM I saying not to attend any NPCC seminar?  Nope.  That is your decision to make and you should not use my experience to make that decision.  I dont know if the original poster is an employee or officer of NPCC who is posting to generate a negative response so that NPCC can sue the MAB and sue me.    I am simply saying what happened to me in 1998 in this fairy tale with a company called XXXX Seminar Corporation back in 1998..  The best advice that ,can be given is Caveat Emptor.  if you attended an NPCC seminar and you were happy after, then so be it.  If the materials helped you, then you may have gotten what you paid for.  So, that ends my fairy tale.
