Hello all.
I am new to this board, and am glad I found it. You all have very interesting topics here.
I worked for a Dr. from 1990-95 ( I have other medical billing ecperience besides this) I mostly did his coding. He is a trauma/General surgeon. I was responsible for all of his coding and billing, collections and follow ups...as well as office duties such as phones, patient appointments, surgery schedule....etc....
My question is this, if it were you, what would you do to get ready to re-enter the work force? I have applied at a few hospitals in my area ( I never before worked for a hospital) thinking I could start somewhere on the ground floor.........maybe records or something and take some courses to get up to date on my coding. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how they would re-enter the field??? I am in the Indianapolis area.
I really would appreciate any opinions.
Footnote to this is that I do have a interview at a hospital close to me and I am very nervous! She knows I have only worked at Dr.' s offices but she still wants to see me. The upside for me is that this is a very rural hospital and it is hard for her to find billers. Well, it is close to where I live , so I dont mind the location.
Thanks
Chrisitne M.
