I have been with my doctor for two years and I have learned a lot from this forum. Everything is set with my account. I wanted to start slow with only one provdier to smooth out the kinks in my system and now I am ready to take on more.
There is just one thing I still don't have any experience with: AUDIT.
I couldn't find any topic in this forum (which basically means I did not search thoroughly enough, because I can't imagine that I am the only one with questions on audit)
What/how is audit done?
What are the watch-outs (things ins. comp. look for) in an audit.
What is the best way to avoid problems during audit? How to set up your system or billing process for this?
What is the physician's liability if biller is at fault (biller is outside contracted service). What is biller's liability if Physician is at fault (phys. codes his own cases and I get information from his office via fax which can introduce errors)
What are typical penalties and can they be appealed?
What information should we have to back up any accusations?
Thanks
