Hello again - I don't want to be a pest, but you guys are great!! I have another problem. Each year our patient deductibles are growing. The doctors feel they should be able to demand payment up front. I have a problem with that for only 2 reasons:
1. I cannot determine the allowed amount up-front to collect from the patient. Even if we bill $500.00, if the insurance company allows $250.00 then only that $250.00 is collectible and then I have a refund situation.
2. What if the patient is seeing multiple doctors for various health issues. Then it seems whoever gets their claim to the insurance company first determines which doctor's fees are applied to the deductible.
So, I continue to argue that it is best to wait until after we receive the EOB and bill the patient, but I have to admit, they have a point. Has anyone implemented a process that we might consider? THANKS!!!!
