Hello! I think I know the answer to this (when I say that, the answer is usually "No, you can't do that!) I may be signing a new provider to my billing company. He's a psychologist who deals with patients with addictions. When his wife, who is a GP, joins his practice, she will be seeing many of his patients.
Currently he bills 90791 for the initial evaluation, and then 99212 and 90836, or 99213 and 90833 for further visits. I know that when his wife joins the practice, if she sees the patient as part of the initial evaluation, he can bill 90792.
But if she should continue to see the patient as part of the same medical group, if they both see the patient on the same day, they can't both bill for 99212, can they? My thought is to advise him that after the initial evaluation, they should see the patient on different days. Is that correct - or am I totally confused?
