There is an instance where a tertiary will pay as primary and they told me not to send them thier money back. If i had to refund anyone sent their money to the patient. The tertiary policy was privately purchased by the patient. Why she did this i have no clue as she had medicare and a secondary that picked up all deductibles and coninsurance.

I did a refund to the tertiary and they sent me the money back. I called on it and the rep told me to send the paitent the money. Only problem was the patient ctb and the phone was disconnected. I attempted to find out who the patients executor was but didnt have much luck with that. As far as i know the patients account still has a fairly large credit balance.

I have run into a few others that have this type of policy as well. Rare that a patient is over insured.
