THANK-YOU STEVE! Yes, I needed both NPI's as you said! I contacted medicaid as you suggested & found I also needed to get another medicaid # for the "group/business" which I was not aware of (to date Dr is a "dual provider" that can render & bill). With the institution of the NPI #'s- it is the "group/business" NPI that is attached to the tax id that we bill with. Now I am trying to update all the networks. Many of them seem to be confused. I don't know if I should only give the group/business NPI & not the Dr's individual or both. The only ones that are understanding so far are BCBS IL/IN. I contacted the PHO's we belong to & they didn't seem to care much about the NPI#'s yet. When I said they are supposed to be updating the networks with them- they said they would "take it down"? I'm kind of worried that this will really affect future payments for a while. How are other offices updating there companies if they are not asking for it?
