We offer a "time of service" discount for self pay. The patient must pay the total amount of the bill on the day of service, and they get a discount of 10-20% (it varies among several practices I know). If the patient pays with a check and the check bounces, they lose the discount and must also pay the returned check charge. The whole point of a TOS discount is that it causes us LESS work, not MORE.
