Several things:

Check out other free claims services. There ARE some out there that do exist. Also, there are some that say they are free, but the reality is they are free for some payers, and others they charge 15 cents per claim. I use one of those... I still get off very very cheaply at 15 cents per claim, and they are very responsive (by phone and by yahoo messenger). Send me an inbox message if you would like more info.

Does your husband use a FEIN or his Social for claims? If he uses an FEIN, then when he first signed up for it, he had to send in a quarterly payroll report showing no employees. This is only done once when you first get an FEIN. If he has an FEIN, you should have a copy of that report. I would think that would suffice, as well as a copy of the appropriate individual tax return, I'm thinking "Schedule C" that should show no payroll expenses (it might be a subform under Sched C, I can't remember).
