Well, the first thing I would do if I were the pt is meet with the patient ombudsman or other customer service person.

Did the patient go straight from angiogram (being sedated and probably asleep) to angioplasty, to recovery room to overnight stay? Sounds like the hospital didn't do their job. Perhaps getting the patient involved with someone at the hospital who knows what they are doing, and getting on a conference call with the insurance would help.

Take these first steps and see what happens.
