Thank you! That is exactly what I thought.
Now, what do I do about it. He states that he really does manipulate 3-4 regions for every patient, because he has found in his years of practicing that people complain of a lower back problem and after one manipulation realize that their neck hurts also, so he does it all at once.
Where can I find documentation in writing to prove that this is probably unethical? I don't have a chiro code book yet, but it sounds like that is a good resource. Any ideas?
After I showed him documentation from other forums regarding the office visits he immediately stopped billing those every visit. I am a certified professional coder, so I believe he trusts me, but I am new to chiro billing and am not sure enough of myself to go in and tell him he is doing this wrong without documentation of some kind.
After saying all that, what do I do if he continues to do it this way? Is this fraudulent if he really does this service? Even if every one else does not? HELP
Oh, and should I be billing with a 25 modifier when he performs an office visit with another service? I thought I should but have not told him that yet.
I am sorry to keep going on, but I really need some assistance with this situation.
Thank you very much for your help.
