Won't fly under California law (which from your name, I assume is your location).

Physical Therapy Assistants must be "licensed" by PT Board of CA as a PT Assistant (it's actually called "approved" - PTs are licensed, PTAs are "approved). Passing a test is required. Check out the Board's web page at www.ptb.ca.gov (Calif is not the only state that requires licensing for pt assistants).

Also, part of the regs say: The supervising physical therapist shall be readily available in person or by telecommunication to the physical therapist assistant at all times while the physical therapist assistant is treating patients. The supervising physical therapist shall provide periodic on site supervision and observation of the assigned patient care rendered by the physical therapist assistant.

He cannot counter with the argument that he is acting as a Physical Therapy AIDE, because that requires the PT to be in the same room as the patient while therapy is being administered.

Some curiosity is nagging at me here as well: What is the reimbursement relationship between the PT and the chiro? Is the Chiro referring to the PT and then treating them as the PT Assistant? Without knowing the details, kinda gives the "appearance" of impropriety. There are some possible issues of kickback that could arise.
