One BIIIIG thing:

When transporting for a non-emergent condition, make sure your crews get the Physician Certification Statement signed before they leave the hospital, otherwise Medicare won't pay. It is too hard to get it signed months down the road, especially when the doctor is no longer with the practice.

When I did my ambulance runs, I made darn sure the paperwork was signed before I left the hospital. BTW, Federal Law demands it be signed within 48 hours of transport.
